Shanelle Schanz is the granddaughter of the first "flying saucer" witness, Kenneth Arnold.

On June 24, 1947, while piloting his plane near Mount Rainier, Washington, Arnold saw a formation of nine strange flying objects, moving at a speed he estimated was in excess of 1350 miles per hour. And as Arnold would tell newspaper reporters later that day, they flew “like a saucer would if you skipped it across water”.

Shanelle has recently re-published the classic book that her grandfather wrote with Raymond A. Palmer: THE COMING OF THE SAUCERS.
